You're leading from a version of yourself
that can't sustain what you're building.

The best leaders I work with all say the same thing: "I'm good at this, but it's costing me something I can't keep paying."

That cost? It's leading like someone you're not. Performing competence while ignoring the voice that says there's another way. Holding it together while the parts of you that make you human sit on the sidelines.

The transformation you need isn't about better tactics. It's about changing the internal system driving everything you do.

Where you start depends on where you are:
About
Rune Christensen

Rune Christensen

I spent 20 years as an IT Executive before I understood what leadership actually costs.

Not the visible costs—the hours, the decisions, the pressure. The hidden ones: the internal override, the performance of certainty while feeling doubt, the voices that won't let you pause when pausing would create clarity.

I was good at my job. I was also running an internal system that couldn't sustain itself.

The shift came when I saw that how you lead internally creates what shows up externally. The part that avoids conflict becomes a culture that can't address what's real. The voice that says "push through" becomes a team that can't slow down to think.

Systems—whether technical or human—follow similar patterns. I see both. And I see how they mirror each other.

Now I work with leaders facing what I faced: succeeding externally while the internal cost shows up in ways you don't name. We work with the voices, beliefs, and parts underneath—not to add techniques, but to lead from a steadier internal place.

Originally from Denmark. Trained in Conscious Leadership, Internal Family Systems, and Natural Leadership. Not to collect frameworks, but because they name what I'd lived and couldn't see.

Coaching for Rising Leaders

You know what needs to happen.
Something inside won't let you do it.

You make the decision—then question it for days. You know the conversation needs to happen—but a part of you finds reasons to wait. You want to set boundaries—but something inside pulls back.

This isn't about not knowing how to lead. It's about the internal voices that won't let you.

What We Address

The parts running the show

Most new leaders fall into predictable dynamics. A part that needs to be liked. A part terrified of conflict. A part that pushes through when pausing would serve better.

These aren't character flaws. They're protective parts doing what they learned to do—often years ago, in situations that no longer exist.

We work with what's underneath your reactions. The voice that says you have to have it figured out. The belief that vulnerability means weakness. The part that won't let you be seen as uncertain.

Once you see what's driving your responses, you can choose differently. Not because you learned a technique. Because you're no longer operating from the same internal place.

Recognition

If this sounds familiar

You're leading people—whether six months or two years—and something's not working the way it should.

You're a founder who built something real. Now managing people feels like a language you don't speak.

You're succeeding by most measures. Sunday nights still fill with dread.

You notice the same dynamics repeating. With your team. In meetings. In how you show up.

You're ready to see what's driving it.

Outcomes

What becomes possible

Decisions without the internal debate.

You make the call. The second-guessing quiets. You move forward.

Boundaries that don't feel harsh.

You say what needs saying. Your team knows where they stand. No one feels punished.

Conversations you've been avoiding.

You have them. They're not as hard as the part of you thought. The relief is immediate.

Leadership that feels like you.

Not performance. Not a role. Just you—clear, grounded, present.

"I'd been managing a team for 18 months and thought I had it figured out. I was exhausted. My 1:1s felt like therapy sessions. I was avoiding the one conversation I needed to have. Rune helped me see what I was doing in two sessions: a 'rescuer' part trying to be supportive by solving everyone's problems. Once I saw it, everything shifted. My team started solving their own problems. I stopped working weekends."

The Process

Weekly or bi-weekly sessions

We meet weekly or bi-weekly to work with what's actually happening in your leadership right now. Not frameworks. Real situations you're navigating this week.

What's driving your response usually surfaces in the first few sessions. The part that needs control. The voice that says you're not enough. The belief keeping you stuck.

Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Then we practice responding from Self instead of the part. From clarity instead of fear.

Between sessions, you notice when the old part shows up. You practice the new response. We debrief what worked, what didn't, what you're learning.

Most leaders work with me for six months to a year. Some continue longer.

Let's talk

We'll have a conversation about where you are and what you're working on. You'll know by the end if this is right for you.

Executive Coaching

You're succeeding.
And inside, you're performing a version of yourself that costs more than it should.

The confidence while feeling doubt. The certainty while carrying uncertainty. The pushing through when your body says pause.

You're not failing. You're leading from an internal system that can't sustain what you're building.

Recognition

You're trusted to make decisions while carrying complexity. To stay clear while holding uncertainty. To lead while the ground keeps shifting.

And you do it. Most days, you deliver.

But there's a cost you don't name. The internal override to keep going. The performance of having it together. The gap between who you are and who you're showing up as.

This isn't about working harder. It's about the internal voices and beliefs that won't let you lead from what's real.

What We Address

We work with the internal system

You know the moves. You know the strategy. But under pressure, a part takes over.

The part that has to be certain. The voice that says vulnerability is weakness. The manager part that won't let you show you don't have it figured out.

We work with what's underneath. Not to eliminate these parts—they're trying to protect you. But to help them trust that you can lead from Self. From presence. From the 8 C's: calm, clarity, curiosity, compassion, confidence, courage, creativity, connectedness.

This isn't about adding techniques. It's about shifting who's leading internally. From the part that's terrified to the Self that's steady.

When Self leads your internal system with presence, everything external shifts. Decisions come from clarity instead of fear. Boundaries land without aggression. Conflict resolves instead of festers.

The Connection

How internal shapes external

Most leadership problems aren't isolated. They're symptoms of what's happening inside.

The part that avoids difficult conversations becomes a culture that can't address what's real. The voice that says "push through" becomes a team that can't slow down to think.

I spent 20 years as an IT Executive learning this the hard way. Systems—technical and human—follow similar patterns. Most people see one or the other. I see how they mirror each other.

That's where the leverage is.

Recognition

Leaders who see themselves

You're succeeding externally. Something's off internally.

You're solving the same problems at higher levels. Different content, same context.

You want to lead from who you actually are. Not who the part thinks you should be.

You're ready to work with what's underneath. Not to fix yourself. But to lead from a system that doesn't cost this much to maintain.

You value depth. And you need it practical.

What Changes

What becomes possible

Decisions from Self, not from parts.

You know what's needed. The internal voices quiet. You move forward from clarity.

You set authentic boundaries.

You say what's real. People know where they stand. No aggression, no collapse.

Meaningful conflict.

You address it. The protective part doesn't take over. The tension resolves.

Leadership that feels sustainable.

Not performance. Not override. Just leading from a steadier internal place.

"I'd been 'working on my leadership' for three years with two other coaches. Rune saw in our first session what no one else named: a part performing confidence to hide uncertainty. Once I stopped letting that part drive and started leading from Self, everything shifted. My board scores went up. My team felt more aligned. I stopped dreading executive meetings."

The Process

Deep partnership over months

We identify what's underneath.

The parts driving your leadership—in decision-making, relationships, team dynamics. Once you see the system, you have leverage.

We work with what's internal.

Grounded in Conscious Leadership (above/below the line), Internal Family Systems (parts work), and Natural Leadership (embodied). We work with what happens in your body and nervous system, not just your thinking.

We practice in real time.

Every session connects to actual situations you're facing. We don't just explore—we practice new responses from Self. The work shows up in your next meeting, your next decision, your next difficult conversation.

Let's talk

We'll have a conversation about what's actually happening in your leadership right now. You'll know by the end if this work is right for you.

What takes months in conversation
surfaces in minutes with horses

Biomimicry-based leadership development through Natural Leadership. For individuals, teams, and organizations ready for embodied transformation.

Natural Leadership

Leadership as congruence

Horses are 1,200-pound biofeedback systems. As prey animals, their survival depends on reading congruence instantly.

If your words, body, and intent don't match—they show you. If you're present and clear—they follow.

This is Natural Leadership. Not techniques. A way of being that nervous systems recognize and trust.

When you're grounded, when what you say matches what you feel, when you're regulated under pressure—trust forms naturally.

When you're performing, when a part is trying to control the outcome, when there's incongruence between inside and outside—the horse mirrors it back. Immediately.

Human and horse connection
The Science

Why this accelerates learning

Leadership isn't failing because of knowledge gaps. It's failing because leaders are dysregulated—reactive parts taking over under stress.

Some coaching models and frameworks can take months to surface these dynamics because humans are polite. We perform. We say what sounds right. We hide incongruence.

Horses don't do any of that. They respond to what's actually happening in your nervous system, not your story about it.

The feedback is immediate, embodied, unmistakable.

Where you push too hard. Where you collapse boundaries. Where a manager part takes over. Where you freeze under uncertainty.

In one session, you see what takes months in conversation.

And because the learning happens in your body—not just your intellect—it sticks. You practice new responses in real time. Clear boundaries. Calibrated pressure. Grounded presence from Self.

The shifts transfer to your next meeting.

Immediate feedback

The horse shows you exactly where you're incongruent. Where the words don't match the body. Where a part is driving instead of Self. In minutes, not months.

Trust through congruence

When you're leading from Self—calm, clear, grounded—the horse follows. No force needed. Trust forms naturally. This is what your team feels too.

Embodied integration

The learning happens in your nervous system. You practice responding from Self instead of the part. Your body learns what clarity feels like. What groundedness feels like. What Self-leadership feels like.

Immediate transfer

These aren't abstractions. Clearer communication. Faster decisions. Boundaries without aggression. Better conflict repair. Teams that trust instead of perform. You see it immediately.

Individuals & Teams

Leaders, teams, organizations

Individual sessions: Founders, executives, and leaders working on presence, decision-making, boundaries, and grounded leadership.

Leadership team development: Executive teams building trust, improving communication, aligning around shared behavioral norms.

Cultural transformation: Organizations serious about shifting from performance-driven to trust-based cultures.

"I thought I was self-aware. Then a 1,200-pound horse showed me exactly where a manager part pushes too hard and where I collapse. The feedback was instant and impossible to argue with. Our leadership team did this together. It changed everything about how we show up for each other. We stopped performing trust and started actually trusting."
